For nearly two decades, Amjad has handled some of the most complex and high-stakes litigation cases in the country, involving commercial contracts, corporate control, civil fraud, business torts, intellectual property, energy, insurance, unfair competition, and the False Claims Act. Amjad's clientele include Fortune 500 organizations, A-List musicians and film stars, fashion stores, mortgage lenders, energy companies, technological firms, major airlines, municipalities, and religious institutions. Amjad has tremendous stand-up trial experience, having obtained several big jury verdicts, including a $12.5 million award. Amjad has also briefed and argued numerous appeals before state and federal courts.
In addition to his litigation business, Amjad commits a significant amount of time to pro bono cases. Amjad specializes in asylum and refugee law, deportation defense, and disaster relief legal services. Amjad co-chaired Latham & Watkins' global human rights and refugee practice group. Amjad has already chaired over two dozen successful immigration and asylum cases.
Amjad has been an Adjunct Professor at UCLA Law School since 2014, teaching "Fundamentals of U.S. Contract Law." From 2017 to 2019, Amjad was a lawyer on the California State Board of Pharmacy (nominated by the California Speaker of the Assembly). Amjad has written articles about qui tam and derivative suit litigation, among other topics. Amjad previously served on the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Access to Justice Committee. Amjad is admitted to practice in all California courts, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Federal Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the Central, Northern, and Southern Districts of California.
