The State Bar of California has designated Paul Horn as a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law.

To get qualified, Paul had to take and pass a full-day written exam covering estate planning, trust, and probate law. He also had to demonstrate a high degree of skill and the necessary number of years of experience in estate planning.

Finally, in order to be certified by the State Bar of California, Paul received positive feedback from other attorneys and judges who were familiar with his estate planning, trust, and probate work.

Any attorney can claim to practice a specific area of law, but how can you be certain that they actually do?

Some attorneys "dabble" in estate planning, which can be useless and even dangerous. The State Bar of California, the certifying body for attorneys, created a "certified specialist" program to help you know whether you're employing someone who is an expert in their field. The State Bar of California certifies some attorneys as Specialists in Estate Planning to assist the public in identifying attorneys who have demonstrated expertise in this particular field of law.

Any qualified attorney can perform estate planning, but only a tiny number of attorneys are accredited as specialists by the State Bar of California. In reality, less than 1% of all California lawyers are certified as specialists in estate planning, trust, and probate law.
